Projects for 2008

2008 is actually a "year off" for us, meaning that we're going to try not to take in any new animals and instead we're just going to try to improve the accommodations for the animals already here. In addition to bettering the lives of the animals here, this is to help us build back funds and to allow us time to do things like get the website in shape and put out a couple of newsletters. Ah, but even an off year is a busy one. We'll strike-through items below as they're completed so you can see our progress. 


CHICKENS

·      Finish chicken climber (steps, roofing, sink a tub of dirt)

·      Lay sod area

·      Make and string flags for protection from hawks

·      Put gutters up on coop

 

BURROS

·      Fix fence by Festus pen

·      Wire upper pasture area

·      Build a shaded area for upper pasture

·      Put up gutters

·      Build another shade shelter off corral

 

GOAT

·      Finish goat climber

·      Predator-proofing bottom of new pen

·      Finish roofing new pen shelter and feed area

·      Put up gutters in new pen

·      Put on main gate latch

·      Fix issues with old pen (for temp housing): gutters, roof

 

Miscellaneous: Lower

·      Platform for water spigot

·      Put in large bird feeder on hill

·      Build feral cat condo

·      Plant shade trees where we wash buckets and where snowmelt drains  

 

Miscellaneous: Upper

·      Build hospital area

·      Build temp housing area

·      Put up metal storage shed for feed

 

Cemetery  Area

·      Lay paths

·      Build bench or buy metal picnic table

·      Wind chimes

·      Pre-dig holes for winter months
